BAG of BEES and the Spoom Collective got together to put on a great event as part of Belfast’s Culture Night 2010. We commissioned three professional artists (Kev Largey, Marian Noone & Lucas Dillon) to paint a temporary wall during the course of the night, descending on Cotton Court just when the September sun was setting. Under the glare of industrial worklights and a gathering crowd of culture tourists they got to work.
It made everyone hungry for a chance to have a go and on the other side of the wall the public had their chance. The promise of a free BAG of BEES Tshirt for every participant combated any stage fright and a second masterpiece began to take shape.
By the end of the night, some 4000 people had passed through the courtyard and both walls were completely covered. A recovery beer or two was well-deserved and a crazy night in the Deer’s Head was just the ticket.
